چکیده

The main goal of this paper consists in expressing the solution of a Stein equation in terms of the Fisher information matrix (FIM) of a scalar ARMAX process. A condition for expressing the FIM in terms of a solution to a Stein equation is also set forth. Such interconnections can be derived when a companion matrix with eigenvalues equal to the roots of an appropriate polynomial associated with the ARMAX process is inserted in the Stein equation. The case of algebraic multiplicity greater than or equal to one is studied. The FIM and the corresponding solution to Stein’s equation are presented as solutions to systems of linear equations. The interconnections are obtained by using the common particular solution of these systems. The kernels of the structured coefficient matrices are described as well as some right inverses. This enables us to find a solution to the newly obtained linear system of equations. AMS classification: 15A06, 15A09, 15A24, 62F12

On Stein’s equation, Vandermonde matrices and Fisher’s information matrix of time series processes. Part II: The ARMAX process

An approach is presented to get interconnections between the Fisher information matrix of an ARMAX process and a corresponding solution of a Stein equation. The case of algebraic multiplicity greater than one and the case of distinct eigenvalues are addressed. Appropriate links are constructed for these two cases by applying a factorization both for the Fisher information matrix and for a corre...

An Analytical Solution for One-dimensional Horizontal Imbibition in a Cocurrent Flow

Cocurrent spontaneous imbibition (COCSI) of an aqueous phase into matrix blocks arising from capillary forces is an important mechanism for petroleum recovery from fractured petroleum reservoirs. In this work, the modeling of countercurrent imbibition is used to develop the appropriate scaling equations. Considering the imbibition process and the water and oil movement respectively as the wet p...

On the solving of matrix equation of Sylvester type

A solution of two problems related to the matrix equation of Sylvester type is given. In the first problem, the procedures for linear matrix inequalities are used to construct the solution of this equation. In the second problem, when a matrix is given which is not a solution of this equation, it is required to find such solution of the original equation, which most accurately approximates the ...

Analytical aspects of the interval unilateral quadratic matrix equations and their united solution sets

This paper introduces the emph{interval unilateral quadratic matrix equation}, $IUQe$ and attempts to find various analytical results on its AE-solution sets in which $A,B$ and $CCC$ are known real interval matrices, while $X$ is an unknown matrix. These results are derived from a generalization of some results of Shary. We also give sufficient conditions for non-emptiness of some quasi-solutio...

Global least squares solution of matrix equation $sum_{j=1}^s A_jX_jB_j = E$

In this paper, an iterative method is proposed for solving matrix equation $sum_{j=1}^s A_jX_jB_j = E$. This method is based on the global least squares (GL-LSQR) method for solving the linear system of equations with the multiple right hand sides. For applying the GL-LSQR algorithm to solve the above matrix equation, a new linear operator, its adjoint and a new inner product are dened. It is p...
